Rigol DM3068 6.5 Digit Digital Multimeter Review

In this episode, Shahriar reviews the Rigol DM3068 6.5 Digit Digital Multimeter. The Model DM3068 DMM gives reliable, cost effective, full DMM capabilities measuring DCV, ACV, DCI, ACI, Resistance (2 & 4 Wire), Capacitance, Diode Test, Frequency, and Temperature. These DMMs are designed for simple and efficient bench top use, but include software options for datalogging and remote programming from almost any interface.

Shahriar demonstrates various functionality including a computer guided destructive LED IV tracer to investigate LED failure patterns. The DM3068 can be purchased for $799 US dollars from Rigol Inc. The DM3058 offers similar functionality at 5.5 Digits for $695 US dollars.

I’m considering buying a DM3068 soon. Everybod shows the Dual Display function with the frequency. Is it also possible to see let’s say DC Voltage on main and DC Current on the second Display?

    Thanks for Reply

    Hi Shariar
Really enjoyed this and want to repeat what you have done. I have the DM3068 and the DP832A along with LEDs willing to be sacrificed! Only problem is I don’t know how to link to Matlab and wondered if you could offer any advice and a copy of the code that you have used.

    Hi Shahriar,

    great site and blog, thanks!

I have a question about the DM3068 – I just bought one on the strength of your video review, and am very impressed with it. The only real niggle I have is the non latching continuity buzzer…you mentioned in the vlog that this was fixable in the firmware – did Rigol ever release it? If they did, they are keeping it hidden on their main sites….

Let me know if you found a fix please – I use this feature a lot and it’s really annoying 😉

Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

    Hi Shahriar,

I picked up the DM3058E model of this DMM – very happy with it – except the PC connectivity. I’ve had trouble connecting with UltraView and the other tools seem very basic and only partially function for me. I’d be interested to hear your impressions/thoughts of the PC software, esp. as you’ve had the DMM for over a year now.

This review is great. I have a DS1052E 50 MHz DSO, which I like a lot. It seems like Rigol produces some great products, many of which are inexpensively priced.

I know you are sponsored by Rigol, but it would be great to see the downsides of the DM3068 as well as a comparison to the DM3058.

I appreciate the effort you put into creating your videos. They are high quality and well thought out. I would love to see them more frequently, but I understand the amount of effort it takes is very high.

    Keep up the good work!
